Remav GmbH, Viernheim, Germany, has released the LA 1400/LA 1200 light weight separator that is designed to separate floating, light-weighted materials, such as foam, wood, Styrofoam, insulation, cork, aerated concrete and mineral substances such as concrete, gravel and stones.
With an energy consumption of 7 kilowatt-hours, up to 70 container loads per hour can be recycled with the separator. The system is continuously fed using a sieve or a conveyor belt. The feed material should have a grain size up to 6 inches in diameter. The LA 1400/LA 1200 can be connected to water supply for floating-sink separation, which separates material that can be used as gravel in road construction or for backfilling, the company says.
The separator is around 20 feet long and has a task height of around 9 feet. Remav says it is easy to integrate into existing recycling plants.
For mobile applications, the light-weight separator can be transported by truck. Integrated forklift straps are included and designed to make loading easy. The system can also be delivered as a hooklift variant.
