Registration is currently underway for ISRI2016–—the world’s largest annual gathering of scrap recycling professionals–—to be held April 2-7, at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The 2016 convention and exposition, produced by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI), Washington, is set to provide scrap recyclers from around the world with the educational and networking opportunities, product showcases, and industry news needed to maximize their time, dollars and return on investment.
“The ISRI show has become the most important meeting in the industry each year with participants typically coming from all fifty U.S. states and from more than fifty countries across the globe,” says Chuck Carr, vice president of member services for ISRI. “The show’s value comes from how well it is programmed to meet the present needs of the industry. With a level of uncertainty in the market unseen in years, recyclers need to glean every piece of information they can to remain competitive and ISRI2016 will provide that much needed information.”
Workshops this year will focus on the aspects of business needed to know to keep the doors open in challenging times and include:
- Using the Tax Code to Your Advantage in a Down Market;
- How to Work With Your Banker in Tough Economic Times;
- The Current State of DRI in the U.S. Ferrous Market;
- The Increased use of Aluminum in the Automotive Industry; and
- How to Make Money in Plastics Recycling.
ISRI 2016 will feature the widely attended and popular Spotlight series, including Ferrous Spotlight, Copper Spotlight, Aluminum Spotlight, Nickel/Stainless Spotlight, Paper Spotlight and Tire Spotlight, providing the most up-to-date market analysis available anywhere, the association says.
ISRI’s exhibition hall will feature the most comprehensive trade show floor of any recycling themed convention anywhere with many exhibitors featuring software and equipment designed to lower operating costs and improve productivity.
ISRI holds blocks at five major hotels in Las Vegas and says hotels will fill up fast, so early booking is strongly encouraged.
More details, including hotels and registration information, can be found on the ISRI2016 website, www.isriconvention.org.
ISRI represents more than 1,600 companies in 21 chapters nationwide that process, broker and industrially consume scrap commodities, including metals, paper, plastics, glass, rubber, electronics and textiles. ISRI provides safety, education, advocacy and compliance training and promotes public awareness of the vital role recycling plays in the U.S. economy, global trade, the environment and sustainable development.
