Reconomy, a United Kingdom-based resource management company, has acquired Gesellschaft für Abfallwirtschaft mbH (GfAW), a provider of industrial waste management solutions based in Immenstaad, Germany.
GfAW arranges disposal and recycling pathways for industrial waste streams such as waste mineral wool, gypsym and other types of demolition materials. It serves a wide range of German, Italian and French construction and demolition (C&D) companies, as well as industrial manufacturers and commercial waste producers.
“Becoming a part of an international circular economy specialist with extensive capabilities will significantly enhance the expertise we can offer to our customers,” GfAW founder Andrea Langenfeld says. “We look forward to working with Reconomy to accelerate circularity.”
GfAW also optimizes recycling routes, coordinating downstream logistics and improving recycling economics to reduce net disposal costs. The company has long-standing partner networks across the EU.
The acquisition strengthens Reconomy’s capabilities in managing complex industrial waste streams for customers across the EU. GfAW will be integrated into Reconomy Nordics’ operations, strengthening its regional platform.
“We are delighted to have completed this acquisition which strengthens our capabilities in providing circular solutions for business with complex waste streams across the EU,” says Guy Wakeley, Reconomy CEO. “We are confident GfAW will make an excellent contribution in our mission to help businesses become more circular, reduce waste, lower carbon emissions and costs.”
