Cooperstown, N.Y.-based New York Susquehanna and Western Railway Corp. has been fined $2.5 million by New Jersey state environmental officials, according to a report in Newsday (Melville, N.Y.).
According to the report, the railroad company illegally loaded construction and demolition material from trucks onto rail cars at five sites in the state.
The company was cited with violating solid waste and air pollution laws at all five sites.
