The city council of London, Ontario, Canada, has rejected the zoning application of a company that has proposed to build a construction and demolition recycling facility in the city, according to a report in the London Free Press (London, Ontario, Canada).
Aarts-Can Holdings Inc. has proposed a facility that would process C&D materials, including concrete, wood, steel, drywall, asphalt and brick. According to the report, the company originally indicated up to 10,000 metric tons of material would be stored at the site. The figure has been revised to 44,000 metric tons.
The proposal has met resistance from several surrounding businesses. Representatives from local companies have expressed concerns over increased noise, dust and traffic.
