Proposal Aims to Tighten C&D Landfill Rules in Ohio

Citizens’ group wants to change regulations of C&D landfills.

An Ohio citizens’ group has proposed an amendment to the state constitution that would apply the same regulations that govern Ohio’s solid waste landfills to those that store construction and demolition debris, according to a report in the Youngstown Vindicator (Youngstown, Ohio).

The citizens’ group R Lives Count Too aims to get the proposal on the November 2006 ballot, according to the report.

If the state’s attorney approves the proposal, the group will need to collect 322,899 signatures by August 2006 to get the issue on the ballot.
