ProLogis, a Denver-based manager and developer of distribution facilities, has announced that a 467,000-square-foot building it developed in
The distribution center was built for Anixter International, a distributor of wiring, cable and other communications products. Built in 2004, the warehouse has been certified under the USGBC’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.
The facility is located outside
- Extensive use of recycled and locally sourced materials during construction,
- Skylights and clearstory windows that increase natural daylight to interior areas, reducing electricity usage,
- Energy-efficient fluorescent lighting,
- High-efficiency roof insulation for greater resistance to thermal heat transfer, and
- Bicycle racks and on-site shower facilities, as well as an on-site carpooling program.
Anixter’s distribution center was designed by Heitman Architects Inc.,
