President George Bush has signed a $286.4 billion transportation bill into law.
The bill, passed by both the House and Senate before the summer recess, will authorize federal funding for highway and transit infrastructure project over the next six years.
Bush has garnered praise for signing the bill from some construction industry trade groups, including the Associated General Contractors of America (ACG).
“Today’s bill signing means that highway contractors around the country will be able to take their business off hold and move forward with this construction season and those to come,” says Stephen E. Sandherr, ACG CEO.
