Powerscreen USA, Louisville, Ky., has introduced the Orion 1400 trommel, a trommel screen designed for recycling, wood chip, compost and topsoil applications.
The Orion 1400 trommel typically sets up in 15 minutes, according to the manufacturer. The hopper is more than 12 feet long and has a capacity of 5.65 cubic yards.
The 14-foot by 5-foot drum has 169.4 square feet of screening area and variable screen control to 24.5 rpm.
The screen angle is adjustable from flat to 4 degrees.
In addition, the reversible, direct-drive 36-inch feed conveyor has hydraulic “kick-out” to prevent barrel stalling. Other conveyors include 48-inch collection, 32-inch oversize, 28-inch transfer and 32-inch fines.
The unit is powered by a Caterpillar 3054C DINA or DIT. Other power is provided by Danfoss motors and David Brown pumps.
