PNC Bank to Fund Green Building in Pennsylvania

PNC Community Development Banking has awarded a $7,500 grant to help with the construction of a new green building in Uniontown, Pa., according to a report in the Herald Standard (Uniontown, Pa.).

The grant was awarded to Fayette County Community Action Agency Inc. (FCCAA), which is currently building a new facility to house its Family Services Center in Uniontown, Pa.

The new building will work to achieve Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system, according to the report.

Green building features include use of recycled materials in walls and carpeting. According to the report, more than 90 percent of the materials generated by the demolition of a prior building were recycled in constructing the new one.

Other green features include a geo-thermal heat pump system for heating and cooling, use of a reflective roof product and solar panels.
