Demolition of The Plaza Hotel & Suites is scheduled to begin in mid-January. The timetable has moved up from earlier estimates now because asbestos removal is taking place more quickly than anticipated, according to a report in the Leader-Telegram.
Officials from Marshfield Clinic Health System said that they initially thought demolition would not take place until February.
The hotel demolition will make way for a new hospital and cancer center at that location. The cancer center is scheduled to open this year and the hospital in 2018, the article states.
Demolition is being performed by Hass Sons of Thorp, Wisconsin.
