Plans Ditched for C&D Landfill in Hawaii

Company gives up on site at Maili Quarry.

The company that runs the Maili Quarry as Pacific Aggregate in Maili, Hawaii, has given up on its plans to build a construction and demolition debris landfill at the site, according to a report in the Honolulu Star Bulletin.

The president of the company, Larry Wilderman, says there was just too much opposition to the proposal.

The quarry will continue to operate and the company will pursue renewing a permit from the state Department of Health that allows it to recycle concrete, according to the report.

The current recycling permit expires in April.
