Peterson Pacific Corp., Eugene, Ore., has introduced a new corporate logo that reflects the growth and evolution of the company’s product lines, including its increased involvement in recycling applications.
The prior logo, which incorporated trees, reflected the company’s initial sole focus on the forestry market, including Peterson’s production of specialized de-barking and de-limbing machines for the forestry market more than twenty years ago, followed by a “full-tree processor” capable of producing chips for the pulp and paper industries.
More recently, Peterson has introduced a line of horizontal recyclers to turn scrap wood and roofing shingles into higher-value products. Peterson has also added a line of blower trucks to serve the landscaping and erosion control markets.
According to the company, the new logo reflects multiple aspects of Peterson Pacific. “It symbolizes renewable and recyclable processes that are made possible with Peterson machines,” a company news release states. “It also represents the continuous carbon cycle inherent in growing, and utilizing renewable organic resources. The logo could also be interpreted as a stylized rotating device that is part of the chipping, grinding, and sizing devices in Peterson machines.”
In addition, the company will begin branding its products “Peterson” rather than PPC, or Peterson Pacific Corp. “Our customers have always referred to our products as ‘Peterson’ machines. It is human nature to prefer a real name to an acronym,” says Dave Benton, Peterson marketing manager. “We’ll now brand our machines with the same name the market has always used.”
