A 15-day comment period has begun in California for AB 1497, which mandates several new solid waste facility permitting requirements and authorizes the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) to adopt regulations to implement these requirements.
The goal of AB 1497 is applying new construction and demolition requirements to the regulation of other solid wastes and clarifying permit process requirements. More information about the bill as well as information on how to make comments is available at www.ciwmb.ca.gov/Rulemaking/PermitImplem/.
