The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection will hold a public meeting, with a public hearing to immediately follow, on Oct. 16 in Pittsburgh. The meeting will discuss a permit application made by Marine Rigging Ltd.
The permit would authorize a transfer station for construction and demolition waste at in Reserve Township.
The property currently is used as a collection point for smaller C&D waste vehicles. There, loads are consolidated into larger containers before being hauled to a permitted disposal facility.
The meeting will provide the public an opportunity to learn about the project and ask related questions.
Written testimony will be accepted by DEP on the evening of the hearing through Oct. 31. Those wishing to present up to 5 minutes of oral testimony, or are in need of an accommodation as provided for in the Americans with Disabilities Act, should contact Helen Humphreys at 412-442-4183. Advanced registrations will be accepted until noon on Oct. 15, but individuals may also register to testify the night of the hearing, and will be called in the order received.
Copies of the permit application are on file for public review by appointment at the DEP Southwest Regional Office, 400 Waterfront Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Interested persons may schedule an appointment to review the application by calling 412-442-4000.
