Permit would authorize C&D waste transfer station in Allegheny County.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection will hold a public meeting, with a public hearing to immediately follow, on Oct. 16 in Pittsburgh. The meeting will discuss a permit application made by Marine Rigging Ltd.

The property currently is used as a collection point for smaller C&D waste vehicles. There, loads are consolidated into larger containers before being hauled to a permitted disposal facility.

Written testimony will be accepted by DEP on the evening of the hearing through Oct. 31. Those wishing to present up to 5 minutes of oral testimony, or are in need of an accommodation as provided for in the Americans with Disabilities Act, should contact Helen Humphreys at 412-442-4183. Requests may also be made through the Pennsylvania AT&T Relay Service at 1-800-654-5984 (TDD).

Advanced registrations will be accepted until noon on Oct. 15, but individuals may also register to testify the night of the hearing, and will be called in the order received.
