The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has cited Charlotte, North Carolina-based DDG
Construction Services Inc. for failing to provide workers with fall protection
at a commercial building site in Springfield, Missouri. The company faces
proposed penalties of $98,693.
OSHA inspectors also cited the company for failing to ensure the
attachment of fall safety systems to an aerial lift to protect employees
working at heights and failing to provide eye protection. OSHA has cited DDG
Construction Services Inc. for more than 15 fall violations since 2014.
“Falls are preventable when required safety measures are taken,”
OSHA’s Kansas City Area Director Karena Lorek says. “Employers must develop and
implement safety procedures to ensure that employees are protected from falls
and other workplace safety hazards.”
The company has 15 business days from receipt of the citations and
penalties to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA’s area director
or contest the findings before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
