The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued a $9,000 penalty to Southern Oregon Ready Mix LLC for violations of its air contaminant discharge permit at its portable asphaltic concrete paving plant in Central Point, Ore.
The plant’s permit limits the daily amount of particulate matter that it can emit to 49 pounds per day. According to the DEQ, on 14 days between June 24 and Sept. 16, 2009, the plant recorded daily particulate emissions above the allowable permit limit, ranging from 60.5 pounds to 81.2 pounds.
Southern Oregon Ready Mix LLP has appealed the penalty.
