NuStar Asphalt Refining LLC and Road Science LLC have announced a joint effort to develop, supply and market a range of asphalt products. The agreement combines NuStar's asphalt production and distribution system with Road Science's portfolio of products, technical services and industry insight.
NuStar, based in San Antonio, Tex., has asphalt refineries in Paulsboro, N.J., and Savannah, Ga. The two refineries have a combined capacity of 104,000 barrels per day. The company also produces its own line of asphalt products, and has a terminal system to store and distribute asphalt products throughout the country.
Road Science, based in Tulsa, Okla., is focused on pavement preservation and maintenance, recycling, rehabilitation and material technologies. Road Science also has a research and development laboratory in Tulsa, which will service the venture by providing research & development, formulation support, mix design services, performance testing and forensics capabilities.
