Nucraft Earns LEED Certification

Expansion of corporate office earns LEED Silver.

Nucraft has earned the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for its corporate office expansion and renovation project.

Nucraft, a high-end manufacturer of wood office furniture, completed the $1.5 million expansion and renovation in March. The project, which totaled 22,300 square feet, added office space to the front and northeast end of the building, as well as new front entrance. Nucraft’s headquarters are located in Comstock Park, Mich.

During the construction of the new offices, demolition of existing walls, floors and roof was minimized, thus diverting 75 percent from construction material disposal and recycling the rest. Additionally, material with recycled content were used in the expansion/renovation, as well as material sourced from nearby to minimize the impact of transportation.

The project was designed by Via Design, and Rockford Construction served as the general contractor. Both companies are located in Grand Rapids, Mich.
