The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources has taken over the investigation of illegal dumping of construction and demolition debris at a site in Newport, N.C., according to a report in the Sun Journal (New Bern, N.C.).
The solid waste section of the NCDENR’s Waste Management Division has been notified of the discovery of an open pit filled with a variety of C&D debris at Sytron Construction, Morehead City, N.C., according to the report. The company’s permit only allows it to have land clearing and inert debris at the Newport location.
