ISRI board approves additional guidance on nonferrous specifications

The board of directors for the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), Washington, approved additional guidance regarding ISRI’s nonferrous scrap specifications during its Summer Meeting July 20, 2017. As per ISRI’s Policy Manual, any party may submit to a written appeal of the board regarding this new specification up to 30 days after publication of this notice. Written appeals must provide a rationale and a request for action and should be sent to ISRI President Robin Wiener at rwiener@isri.org.

The language approved for insertion at the beginning of each subsection (covering Red Metals, Aluminum, Zinc, Lead, etc.) within ISRI’s Guidelines for Nonferrous Scrap: NF-2017 is as follows:

“Where applicable, heavier pieces of any size, length and weight acceptable upon mutual agreement by buyer and seller.”

ISRI’s Nonferrous Division approved the guidance at the Spring Board & Committee Meetings in New Orleans, April 23, 2017, and is intended help facilitate domestic and global nonferrous scrap metal trading.
