The Carpet America Recovery Effort and the Environmental Protection Agency are requesting nominations for its EPA/CARE Award, which was established to recognize innovation in carpet recycling. Since carpet recycling is a fairly new process the groups are seeking to find parties who have demonstrated innovative solutions in this field.
This award will be presented for the first time in May of 2008 at CARE's 6th Annual Conference in Clearwater Beach, FL.
To be eligible for the award candidates must meet the following criteria:
Nominations may be submitted for any innovation related to carpet recycling
Nominees may be organizations, teams or individuals
Work must have been done within the United States
Work must involve the recycle and/or reuse of post- consumer carpet
Post-consumer carpet must represent 10% of the product's total recycled pounds
Increased levels will be given more consideration
Post-consumer carpet used must be derived from the United States
Concept must be demonstrated commercially within the previous 24 months
Concept must be capable of substantial impact to landfill diversion of post-consumer carpet
All products or processes which use PCC are eligible
The deadline for submissions is March 3, 2008.
