Two New York construction workers have detailed the nine months they spent working on the former World Trade Center site in the aftermath of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, in Nine Months at Ground Zero, which will be published by Simon & Schuster Inc. in late April.
Robert Gray and Charles Vitchers worked on the site for nearly a year. Both had years of experience building and repairing skyscrapers, including construction and repair of the Twin Towers themselves. They worked side by side with first responders, engineers and city staff in the clean-up effort.
The book is co-authored by Gray and Vitchers along with Glenn Stout with photography by Joel Meyerowitz.
