The East Hampton Recycling Center, East Hampton, New York, is again accepting construction and demolition (C&D) debris after being temporarily shut down. According to a report in the Southampton Press, the facility was temporarily shut down by order of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).
The shutdown order resulted from an overload of debris at the facility, according to the article. The article cites a recent trucking shortage and difficulty in getting permits for hauling that also caused a backup of household trash in the town.
The facility was closed Aug. 12, 2014, following an inspection by DEC. The facility reopened and began accepting C&D debris Aug. 18, 2014.
