New York County Rejects Plan for C&D Transfer Station

Proposed facility would have processed C&D material before going to landfill.

The Herkimer County Planning Board of Herkimer, N.Y., has rejected the application for a use variance for a transfer station and demolition debris processing facility in the town of Newport, N.Y., according to a report in the Evening Telegram (Herkimer, N.Y.).

The application was made by Greg Humphrey, owner of Humpf Sanitation.

Humphrey applied in February 2004 for zoning and building permits to build an 18,000-square-foot facility where C&D debris would be shredded and processed before being sent to a landfill, according to the report.
