New York’s Orange County has signed an agreement with Taylor Recycling, Montgomery, N.Y., to temporarily store recycled construction and demolition debris in the old county landfill in New Hampton, N.Y., according to a report in the MidHudsonNews.com (Hudson Valley, N.Y.).
The material will be used as landfill cover at other facilities, according to the report.
County officials see the agreement as a chance to do something positive with the site. Under the agreement, Taylor Recycling will assume the ownership of the storage area, including New York State Department of Environmental Control (NYDEC) permits and other environmental reviews.
