Man killed at recycling facility

Police are investigating an accident at Lincoln Recycling, North Bergen, New Jersey, after a man was struck and killed by a construction loader June 2, NJ.com reports.

Angelo Maietta, 31, of Bayonne, New Jersey, was dropping off a load of material at the commercial and residential recycling facility as part of his junk hauling collection route when he was struck.

Angelo’s brother and coworker, Rafel Maietta, said that Angelo was closing the doors at the back of their collection truck when a payloader driving in reverse hit Angelo and the vehicle.

"The payloader was inside the recycling building, and he comes out in reverse speeding so fast, not looking. I looked out my rear mirror, and it was too late to yell my brother's name out and he hit me," Rafel said, according to NJ.com.

It has not been reported whether charges will be filed against the payload driver. The North Bergen Police Department, Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are all investigating the incident, according to police.
