The Common Council of South Bend, Ind., has approved a proposal for a recycling center and transfer station at the site of the former Studebaker Plant No. 8, which will process concrete, asphalt and scrap metal, according to a report in the South Bend Tribune (South Bend, Ind.).
The county-owned land will be developed by Mother Earth LLC and will have equipment for crushing, grinding and storing concrete, asphalt and scrap metal, according to the report.
It will also include wood processing and composting facilities.
The site will also have a transfer station for recyclable materials such as appliances, paper, plastic, paint and glass, according to the report.
