As the system is described in a news release from Henry A. Wiltschek Inc., a trailer with a container enters the TEME tilter station, where the container is unhitched from the trailer and secured to the tilter.
Once locked into place, the Tilter lifts the container free from the trailer, allowing the trailer to be driven away. The doors of the empty container are then opened against the automated closing mechanism. The Tilter then lifts the container up to 90 degrees to allow for a crane, conveyor or magnetic pick-up to load the material into the receiving container.
“Tilting the container ensures all of the container volume is used and that [the receiving container] can be filled to its full capacity,” says the news release. Load cells within the base of the Tilter monitor the desired load weight to ensure the load remains in compliance with transportation and shipping regulations, says the company.
At the conclusion of the tilting process, the unloaded container’s doors are automatically closed in sequence and held shut while it returns back to its home position. The loaded container is also ready to be transferred onto its trailer and removed, according to the news release.
