Former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin has been elected chair of the California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB), Sacramento, which is the primary regulatory agency for the state’s solid waste industry. Her fellow board members voted her to the office.
Marin was appointed as a full-time member of the board in April 2004 by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, to serve in the “public representative” slot. Her term runs through Jan. 1, 2008.
The CIWMB has approximately 450 employees and a $186 million annual budget.
