An ordinance has been adopted by Tulare County, Calif., that will make construction and demolition recycling available at three area landfills, according to a report in the Porterville Record (Porterville, Calif.).
As of March 1, landfills located in southwest Porterville, Visalia and Woodville will all offer C&D recycling, according to the report.
The Construction and Demolition Ordinance was adopted by the Tulare County Board of Supervisors on Jan. 24. Like several other California counties and municipalities in recent months passing similar ordinances, Tulare County officials are looking to C&D debris to help boost overall diversion rates to meet state standards of 50 percent.
According to local media reports, several cities in California’s Contra Costa County have adopted similar legislation. San Diego enacted a C&D recycling ordinance in September 2005.
