The National Demolition Association (NDA) has launched an online grassroots action center in an effort to expand its influence in Washington, D.C. Grassroots advocacy is a critical part of a robust government affairs operation, NDA says, and this action center will allow NDA members to connect with policymakers in Washington with just a few clicks.
The interactive system is exclusively for NDA members to easily contact their elected policymakers and those in federal agencies to educate them on the pressing issues of the demolition industry.
NDA will set up several campaigns, which are specific bills in Congress or federal regulation, for members to act on. Campaigns are form letters populated with language approved by NDA’s Government Affairs Committee, and they are designed to communicate the needs of the industry in one collective voice.
NDA’s first campaign on the website, which is in support of the Ban Asbestos Now Act of 2019, is currently up on its website.
NDA says it:
- supports this legislation to protect workers from the hazards of asbestos. The bill would address outstanding issues regarding the legality of certain types of asbestos-containing materials.
- supports the bill’s requirement for the federal government to commission a study that would determine how much legacy asbestos remains in residential and commercial buildings across the U.S.
