NDA Accepting Environmental Award Nominations

National Demolition Association awards recognize sustainable practices, including recycling.

The National Demolition Association (NDA) is accepting nominations for its annual Environmental Excellence Awards. NDA member firms can nominate projects or practices “that can show significant environmental conservation and community improvement,” according to the NDA.

Any private or public project in which Individuals and businesses with membership in the NDA played a key role “is eligible to qualify, even if environmental work is not [its] central mission,” says the NDA on its website.

Among the awards categories are Sustainability, Community Enhancement, Environmental Enterprise, Education and Pollution Prevention/Resource Conservation.

The NDA says an award can help a demolition company “receive the recognition you deserve for being innovators in your industry [and] demonstrate your company’s commitment to proactive environmental solutions and community improvement.”

Nominations will be reviewed by the NDA Environmental Achievement Selection Committee and will be judged on the basis of:

  • demonstrated personal or organizational commitment to the environment that has produced measurable, positive change;
  • enthusiasm and resourcefulness in educating and inspiring others;
  • development and implementation of projects that show outstanding merit and innovation in environmental conservation, protection, preservation, or pollution prevention; and
  • the extent to which a project/endeavor goes beyond normal practices or exceeds standard requirements.

The awards will be presented at the NDA Annual Convention in San Antonio, March 10-13.

Instructions on how to send in a nomination can be found here. Online applications must be submitted by December 31, 2011.
