NDA cancels Demolition New Orleans

The National Demolition Association (NDA) announced Jan. 22 that it is canceling its annual conference, Demolition New Orleans, which was slated to take place March 3-4.

In a statement, the organization wrote: “NDA has been closely following the developing news regarding COVID-19. Although promising news is coming from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding the future of the pandemic, there is still uncertainty around in-person events for 2021. Earlier this month, Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards extended his modified Phase 2 order, keeping COVID-19 mitigation measures in place for another 28 days, and strongly recommending against large gatherings. Due to this uncertainty, and to protect your health and the communities you serve, the NDA board of directors has voted unanimously to cancel Demolition New Orleans. 

“We know the timing of our announcement comes as a disappointment so early in 2021. While we regret canceling the event, we are confident this decision is in the best interest of all attendees, exhibitors and volunteers.”

NDA says the organization looks forward to hosting its conference Feb. 26 to March 1, 2022 in San Diego.

Although NDA is canceling this year’s in-person events, it noted it is exploring virtual opportunities for education initiatives and for celebrating its annual awards, and will release this information as it becomes available.
