NDA announces demolition estimating seminar

The seminar takes place from Nov. 2 to Nov. 3 in Romulus, Michigan.

The National Demolition Association will be offering a one-and-a-half day seminar focusing on demolition estimating. Throughout this workshop, attendees will learn estimating techniques for a wide variety of projects in multiple industries. From conducting an initial site visit to analyzing the success of a bid, this course offers something for everyone involved in demolition estimating. During the seminar, attendees will work through a sample bid and compete with small groups to create the most qualified bid for a project. Attendees will leave this seminar with new information on the processes required to develop, organize and implement an effective estimating program.

This course is taught by instructors Mike Casbon, technical director for Environmental Resource Management (ERM) and Greg Menen, director of demolition services for Rocky Mountain Recycling, Denver, who collectively have over 50 years of experience in demolition estimating. By the end of the seminar, attendees should be able to:

  • prepare a quantity take off of building systems, walls, floors, roof and foundations
  • prepare quantity take off of demolition debris
  • estimate the cost of general condition 
  • use equipment and labor pricing to price your estimate
  • prepare a basic and conceptual estimate of a demolition project

Attendees must register by Wednesday, Oct. 19. Course registration includes refreshment breaks, lunch on Wednesday and breakfast on Thursday morning.

The NDA member price is $795 and the nonmember price is $995. The seminar takes places on Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. to noon.

NDA has a room block at the Detroit Metro Airport Marriott for $149 per night for a standard room. All rooms must be booked before Oct. 19 to receive the NDA room rate. Attendees must call the hotel's reservation line to reserve a room.
