The National Gypsum Co., Charlotte, N.C., has announced plans to build a wallboard plant near Phoenix, doubling its presence in the West.
The new plant will be capable of producing approximately 1 billion square feet of wallboard per year, according to a press release from National Gypsum.
The new plant will serve Phoenix, Tucson, Ariz., Las Vegas, San Diego, Albuquerque, N.M., El Paso, Texas, and Los Angeles by truck. Other West Coast markets will be served by rail, including Denver, Salt Lake City, Sacramento, Calif., Boise, Idaho, and Seattle.
Headquartered in Charlotte, N.C., National Gypsum is a supplier of wallboard, interior finishing products and cement board to the construction industry. It has a network of 40 facilities in North America, including its own paper mills and gypsum mines and quarries.
