National Demolition Association Officially Unveils New Logo

New name, logo more inclusive of the entire demo industry, association officials say.

The new National Demolition Association—formerly the National Association of Demolition Contractors—has officially announced its new name and logo.

“We believe the new identity was needed to communicate the evolution of our industry,” says Michael R. Taylor, executive director of the association.

The new name and logo were unveiled at the association’s annual meeting in Las Vegas in March 2005.

The association was first organized in 1972 as the National Association of Demolition Contractors. Its membership has grown from a membership of 60 to nearly 1,000 member companies.

Taylor says the association decided to remove the word “contractors” from its name to be more inclusive of the demolition industry as a whole. “We want to invite all companies actively involved in the process to become members,” he says. “By doing so, they gain access to North America’s premier source of information on safe, efficient demolition practices.”

The newly designed logo mirrors the movement of the organization, Taylor says. He says the ellipse surrounding the association name signifies progress.

The new logo’s colors are a deep blue and a color called “Chicago Brick.” The words “National” and “Association” are in blue, while the word “Demolition” is designed to appear like its constructed of bricks. Striking the bricks is an image of a wrecking ball, which represents the history and heritage of the industry, according to Taylor.
