NASCO-OP, a purchasing cooperative for the recycling industry, elected Howard Glick chairman during its annual meeting. Glick is with Tri-State Iron & Metal, Texarkana, Ark.
In addition to Glick, NASCO-OP elected Arnold Gachman, Paul Brenner and Ed Arnold Jr. officers of the organization.
Glick outlined his goal of making effective use of cooperative purchasing. “The purpose of NASCO-OP is to coordinate the collective purchasing power of the recycling industry to provide members superior value on products and services” said Glick. The economic power of a cooperative is realized when independent businesses realize that there is greater strength in numbers. Glick points out that Associated Press, Land-O-Lakes, and True Value Hardware are billion dollar businesses that are also successful cooperatives.
NASCO-OP is available free of charge to ISRI, CARI and NADC members. More than 1,200 recyclers belong to the cooperative.
