Morbark Demonstrates New Products During Demo Days

Equipment company’s event allows some 300 attendees to see new products in operation.

Morbark Inc. demonstrated several new products and features for the forestry and recycling markets at the company’s annual Demo Days event, held at a proving ground near its Winn, Mich., headquarters.

According to a Morbark press release, more than 300 people from 15 countries attended the 2011 Demo Days event, which featured factory tours, seminars, vendor booths networking opportunities and equipment demonstrations.

Biomass equipment demonstrations included a new Advantage 3 Drum for whole tree chippers, the 3800XL Horizontal Grinder and several proprietary pieces of equipment in development that were demonstrated for customer input and performance feedback.

Highlights, according to the company, included:

  • The new Morbark Advantage 3 chipping drum, designed to significantly improve chip-quality in large volume wood chipping equipment and to reduce recurring wear-part and maintenance costs by more than 70 percent compared to some conventional chipping drums.
  • The new Morbark 3800XL Horizontal Grinder, which contains “significant changes and improvements in feeding technology [that] dramatically increase production capacity and operating efficiency,” according to the company. A redesigned reverse-pivot feed system is designed to minimize the space between the feed wheel and the hammermill. “There is no place for material to hide in this unit, which keeps debris moving forward with uninterrupted, steady production,” according to Morbark.

Morbark Inc. has been designing and making equipment for the forestry, recycling, tree care and sawmill markets for more than 50 years. The company’s product lines include Chiparvestors, flails, whole tree chippers, brush chippers and grinders. More information can be found at www.morbark.com.
