Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder has announced that the Lewis and Clark State Office Building in Jefferson City, Mo., has been awarded Platinum Certification in the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building certification program.
The Lewis and Clark building is home to the headquarters of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR). It is only one of 16 buildings in the country to be awarded LEED Platinum Certification and the first state government office building to earn the distinction, according to a press release from the MDNR.
The Lewis and Clark State Office Building was designed by the Kansas City firm Berkibile, Nelson, Immenschuh and McDowell (BNIM). The general contractor was Professional Contractors and Engineers of Columbia.
