The Minneapolis City Council has directed city staff to pursue gold-level Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for the planned Hiawatha maintenance facility, according to a report in Twin Cities Finance and Commerce.
The facility will consolidate public works operations in the city, and the directive to seek LEED’s gold standard is part of a larger resolution that requires all buildings paid for by the city to seek LEED Silver certification or higher.
