Michigan Recycler to Accept Infested Ash Wood

Company to grind wood infested with emerald ash borer.

A Flint, Mich.-based wood recycling company has agreed to grind ash wood infested with a beetle that has killed millions of Michigan’s ash trees, according to a report in the Lansing State Journal (Lansing, Mich.).

The state-owned site in Windsor Township, Mich., run by Mid-Michigan Recycling will process wood infested with the emerald ash borer, according to the report.

The infested wood will be chipped into 1-inch pieces and in most cases the chips will be taken to a Flint wood burning power plant.
