The city commission in Three Rivers, Michigan, has reportedly accepted a bid to demolish a nearly 100-year-old hospital building in that southwestern Michigan city.

According to the website of Battle Creek, Michigan-based WBCK-Radio, the $990,000 bid accepted was made jointly by Bay City, Michigan-based Dore & Associates and Kalamazoo, Michigan-based Envirologic Technologies. Additional costs may arise pending how much asbestos abatement is necessary, says the website.

The building was constructed as a hospital and functioned as Three Rivers Hospital until 1987, when that medical center moved to a new location.

Redevelopment plans for the land have not been finalized, with WBCK indicating the city government have supported the construction of apartments at the site.
