The Clinton, Mich. Village Council has approved a plan to bring Michigan Pallet Recycling to the city. The company, which is headquartered in Charlotte, Mich., agreed to acquire a 70,000-square foot facility that is presently idled.
Kevin Cornish, the Clinton Village Administrator, said that the company hopes to start operating at the facility by the end of this year. The company will be undertaking some updating of the building, although there does not seem to be any structural problems that will hold up the start of the plant.
Cornish says that the brunt of the business will go toward refurbishing pallets that are shipped to the plant, although there will be some recycling that takes place.
The location where the facility will operate is in an area zoned for light industrial work.
The Council had approved an earlier favorable vote by the Clinton Planning Commission, which recommended the site plan for Michigan Pallet Recycling Inc.
The company will hire around 50 employees, and is expected to operate with two shifts.
