Metso Minerals and RB Scott have announced the establishment of a wire screen fabrication facility at RB Scott’s headquarters in Eau Claire, Wis.
The new facility will produce Metso’s Trellex brand of wire screen systems, which offer opening, wire diameter, metal and weave types to fit a range of screening applications. The nearly 8,000-square-foot facility employs between two and four people, depending on demand.
With the new location, Metso and RB Scott hope to reduce the typical two-week lead time to one day for customers in Wisconsin, Minnesota and the Dakotas.
“We expect that this new level of customer service will deepen our business relationships with our customers,” says John Mickelson, president of RB Scott. “The ability to ship in one day is a big advantage.”
RB Scott is Metso’s authorized distributor for screen media in the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Dakotas and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Metso Minerals supplies crushing and screening systems and produces crushers, screens, mining equipment, grinding mills, wear products, conveying equipment and asphalt pavers and rollers.
Metso is equally optimistic about the effect the new facility is expected to have on its local markets.
“Adapting to the customer’s wire cloth requirements through distributors in North America is a central part of our strategy for getting close to the customer and improving service,” says David Quail, Metso’s product manager for screen media in North America. “We have great hopes for this.”
