The Harford County, Md., Council has rejected plans to reopen an old sand and gravel pit near Abingdon, Md., for use as a construction and demolition debris landfill, according to a report in the Baltimore Sun.
The council voted March 1 to approve a new solid waste management plan after adopting a series of amendments, one of which eliminated the plans for the former Spencer sand and gravel pit, which as been closed since 1992, according to the report.
