The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has ordered a Whitefield, Maine, man to clean up construction and demolition debris disposed of on his property in violation of state solid waste regulations, according to a report in the Lincoln County News (Whitefield, Maine.)
Officials from the DEP’s Bureau of Remediation and Waste Management investigated the Mills Road property of Theodore Rideout after receiving an anonymous complaint about illegal disposal in the area. They reportedly found C&D material and 200 tires, in excess of the 50 allowed by state law, according to the Lincoln County News.
Maine regulations calls for C&D material to be disposed of on the site where it is generated. But according to the report, the debris found came from property owned by Rideout’s son.
