Komptech USA, based in Westminster, Colo., has unveiled its new Cribus 3800 drum screener, which it says has the largest drum of any comparable mobile trommel on the market.
Komptech introduced the Cribus 3800 at the 2011 United States Composting Council Conference in late January.
“A larger drum provides more screening area and therefore higher throughput,” the company says regarding the Cribus 3800. “In addition, a large hopper makes for faster loading and wider conveyors reduce stoppages with bulky materials. All this makes screening faster and more efficient.”
Among the benefits offered by the Cribus, according to Komptech:
· the 7-foot, 3-inch drum has 15 percent more screen area and length than its competitors;
· the large hopper avoids “bridging” of material and is easier for larger bucket loaders to load;
· the oversized conveyors and 5.5-inch spacing between drum and sidewalls facilitate smooth screening of larger sizes;
· the extra-large tires provide better mobility and stability on soft ground; and
· despite the large size of the unit, the Cribus has road-mobile exterior dimensions.
Komptech USA says the Cribus also uses “about a third less” fuel per ton than a comparable trommel; the patented Wheelgrip friction drive has no extra bearings or cogs to minimize servicing requirements, and there are fewer lube points than with comparable machines; plus drum cleaning access has been simplified.
