Knife River Materials Lands Three DOT Projects

Company lands three projects in Minnesota that combined are worth more than $30 million.

Knife River Materials -- Northern Minnesota Division, has secured three Minnesota Department of Transportation projects. The contracts to repave sections of highways in the state total more than $30 million.

The $13 million Trunk Highway 11 work consists of about 18.4 miles of grading, milling, hot-mix asphalt overlay and culvert replacement.

The second contract on Trunk Highway 71 for $10.7 million involves resurfacing 6.2 miles in Beltrami and Hubbard Counties. This repave project includes bridge work and retaining walls, putting the completion date into 2011.

On Trunk Highway 2 in Polk County, crews will mill out about 10.4 miles of the existing roadway and lay down hot-mix asphalt. The contract is for this work is $6.5 million.

All three jobs involve reclaiming the old asphalt to be reused in the new road surface.
