Kinshofer, with US headquarters in Sanborn, New York, is now offering its CMX210 X-Lock pin grabber-style quick coupler suitable for 18 to 21 ton excavators in our proprietary SmartFlow version, making the coupler fully hydraulic.
At the world’s biggest construction machinery trade fair in Munich, Germany, Bauma 2016, Kinshofer presented its visitors not only a completely new fully hydraulic KM 605 SmartFlow quick coupler for loader cranes but also two brand new quick couplers for excavators.
The new X-Lock quick coupler is a coupler with multi-adapter function that, due to its form- and force fitting wedge locking, is compatible to different adapters of different systems. Yet it is also equipped with a mechanical or electronic security indicator, which complies with the Euro standard EN474-1 and the future ISO 13031 safety standard.
The new CMX210 SmartFlow quick coupler has all the features of the X-Lock mentioned above, but using fully hydraulic connections and comfortably controlled in the excavator’s cab, without any handling necessary outside of the cab. The CMX210 SmartFlow’s advantages:
- The X-Lock safety knuckle engages immediately and automatically onto the front pin of the attachment using a patent pending design in which it can only be released by the operator.
- Independent control of X-Lock safety knuckle or locking wedge.
- Free of play wedge closure designed to have a 2.5 times higher clamping force.
- Sensors on the locking wedge designed to permit mechanical or electronic display of the locked state.
- Its wedge-lock system designed with less overall height than pin-grabber systems, which means more breakout force.

As with any of its products, Kinshofer has designed the CMX210 SmartFlow for longevity too. All Kinshofer quick couplers for excavators with 2 ton operating weight up are made of special cast steel. The hydraulic connections of the quick coupler are hidden under an automatically opening and closing protective cover.
